Fragment of a relief skyphos with a ritual scene of drummers and a mythical creature (Sphinx)
Fragment of a relief skyphos featuring a narrative scene in the main zone with five standing figures, two of whom wear long chitons and play a drum, which they hold in their right hand while holding a rod in their left hand. The remaining figures are preserved from the waist down, with only their garments visible. Notably, there is mythical sphinx between two figures, although it is quite eroded. The sphinx is depicted in profile, facing one of the drummers. The medallion at the base is decorated with a rosette, inscribed within two concentric relief circles, with a continuous horizontal row of dots in the space between them. Another row of continuous dots delineates the ground on which the figures stand.
The vessel likely shows a ritual act.
